About CePHED
Center for Public Health, Environment and Development (CePHED) is a Research, Consultancy and Advocacy Organization established by Greenfield University College (Sunyani). It seeks to collaborate with relevant Governmental, Non-Governmental Organizations, National as well as International Research Institutions to undertake research to support Public Health Policy and Environmental programme implementation in vulnerable communities within the Middle and Northern Belts of Ghana, by undertaking the following activities:

Activities
■ RESEARCH DISSEMINATION
CePHED seeks to undertake research and share relevant research information with all stakeholders, especially government, policy makers and general public, especially vulnerable persons (including children, women and youth) in selected programme communities. Key Public Health areas of interest include:
• Maternal and Child Health
• Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
• Climate Change and Health
• Waste Management
• Mining, Health and the Environment
• Modern Environmental Health Hazards (MEHHs)
■ ADVOCACY AND AWARENESS CREATION / COMMUNITY EDUCATION
The Center seeks to build partnerships with relevant Health Institutions (e.g., Ministry of Health / Ghana Health Service, Hospitals, Health Centers, Clinics, CHPS Compounds) for community education, radio presentations, organization of local/district-level awareness and capacity-building training programmes on health issues such as:
• Non-Communicable Diseases — Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma, etc.
• Diarrhoea Diseases — Cholera, Dysentery, Gastroenteritis, etc.
• Communicable Diseases — Typhoid Fever, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Covid-19, etc.
• Occupational Health Conditions — Mining-related health conditions such as respiratory problems from dust and airborne hazards; musculoskeletal injuries; hearing loss; vision problems.
• Extreme Weather Events — Health impacts of floods, droughts, and storms including mental health effects and displacement, especially for vulnerable populations like the elderly, women, and children.
• Vector-Borne Diseases — The spread of diseases like malaria, filariasis.
• Modern Environmental Health Hazards (MEHHs) — water pollution from populated areas and industry, urban air pollution from automobiles, radiation hazards, land degradation, climate change, and emerging infectious diseases.
■ TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING
CePHED collaborates with District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Assemblies, Environmental Experts, Research Institutions, and Waste Management Agencies for training stakeholders in environmentally-friendly household and industrial waste management practices. It also partners with National and International bodies to provide graduate-level training in Public Health, Sanitation and Water Governance, Environmental / Occupational Health and Safety.
