Bachelor of Science in Public Health (YET TO START)

There are two (2) main categories of students who qualify for admission into the BSc Nursing programme. These categories are:

A: Direct Entry (WASSSCE/ SSSCE Candidates):

  • WASSSCE Candidates
  • The Candidate must have a score of A1 - C6 in Social Studies. An aggregate score of Thirty-Six (36) or better comprising (A1-C6) in three (3) Core Subjects i.e. English, Mathematics and Integrated Science. In addition, they must also have three (3) Elective subjects with scores (A1-C6) in any of the programmes listed in Table 1 below.

  • SSCE Candidates
  • An aggregate score of Twenty-Four (24) or better comprising (A-D) in three (3) core subjects i.e. English, Mathematics and Integrated Science. In addition, the applicant must also have scores in three (3) elective subjects (A-D) in any of the following programmes listed the table below:

B: MATURE Candidates:

Mature students are in two (2) categories, namely: The Top-Up Students/ Sandwich Students.

  • Top-Up Students
  • All Top-Up candidates must be in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. They must also be Practicing Nurses who completed a Diploma Programme in an accredited Nursing or Midwifery Training School in Registered General Nursing, Registered Midwifery and Registered Community Nursing. They will enter at Level 300 and have to choose any of the following specialization programmes:

    • Critical Care Nursing
    • Emergency care Nursing
    • Paediatric Nursing
    • Midwifery
    • Public Health Nursing

  • SANDWICH Candidates
  • Sandwich Candidates are those who hold a Certificate in Nursing Assistant Clinicals (NAC) and Nursing Assistant Preventive (NAP) from an accredited Nursing Training School. NB: All Sandwich Candidates will enter at Level 200.
    To qualify for admission into the sandwich programme, candidates must:

    • Hold a Certificate from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
    • Have an active License from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana
    • Have at least three years working experience as a nurse.
    • Have a written reference from immediate supervisor/relevant persons.
    • Take part in the Access Course and Pass the examination/interview OR must have SSSCE or WASSCE results with at least 6 credits in all required subjects.
    • He or she must go through an interview to be conducted by the Greenfield University College and pass before gaining admission.

C: INTERNATIONAL Candidates:

International applicants and those with External Educational Credentials acceptable for Admission include the following:

  • Senior Secondary School Certificates (WASSCE/SSSCE).
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • GCE (Cambridge) – ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels
  • IGCSE (Cambridge) – ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels
  • American High School Grade – Grades 12&13 examinations
  • Other external qualifications which have equivalences to the WASSCE/SSSCE and the GCE (A Levels)

Equivalences to WASSCE/SSSCE in all cases shall be determined by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
International Practicing Nurses who want to do the Top-Up Must be cleared by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana, and their educational Credentials must be evaluated and determined by Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
